52nd Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival
 


The Fifty Second Belgrade festival of Documentary and Short Films, the second year under the artistic stick of its Director Vera Vlajić, our short film author, is presenting in the Youth Centre and Cultural Centre of Belgrade cinema halls, in the period from 20 to 24 April 2005, the most recent films of the domestic short film production as well as the films made by the authors worldwide. In the Domestic Competition (selectors: Danica Aćimović, Andrijana Stojković, Feliks Pašić) 33 films are competing (16 documentaries, five animations, four experimental and eight short feature films). The International Competition (as selected by Vera Vlajić) brings to the tournament 30 films out of which eight documentaries, seven animations, an experimental and fourteen short feature films. There are also the films that deserve to be seen, although they are not in the competition, but have been classified in the domestic and foreign Panoramas.

A special programme is dedicated to the winner of the Life Achievement Award – Miomir -Miki Stamenković, our well-known documentary filmmaker. The special programmes this year are going to record the themes related to Kosovo, sex -trafficking (Red Light Focus) and the Visions of Europe. A breath of the new world animation is coming to Belgrade with “The New New York Animation” and its 17 films selected by Biljana Labović, our author of animation films who lives and works in New York.

The programmes of the films selected from one of the most famous short film festivals - the Festival in Clermont Ferrand ( France ) are going to attract attention, as well. A special programme is composed of the documentary films made by Remon Depardon, a famous French author. His two feature films also make the Festival preliminary programme organised this year for the first time (in Art Cinema – Museum at 20 h on 7 and 14 April). "The New Iranian Film” is going to be shown in the Museum of the Yugoslav Film Archive on 18 and 19 April, as another preliminary programme of the Festival. This programme has been established in honour of the last year's winner from Iran , Sudab Babagap ("The Noah's Ark "). Screening a respective film of each of them, the Festival is also going to bid farewell to two masters of the domestic documentary filmmaking, Milenko Štrbac and Zdravko Velimirović.

The prices of the tickets are 50 and 100 dinars.
