Miomir – Miki Stamenkovic, the winner of this year's Life Achievement Award

The director Miomir Miki Stamenkovic who is the winner the Life Achievement Award, opened last evening the 52nd Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival.

Addressing to the young authors of short films, especially documentaries, he said:

"You have proved to be talented. So, you knew how to choose the themes, and they are everywhere around us; it remains to notice them and to know what you want to say. Enter all the pores of the life. Illuminate all that is of relevance for our life. Be persistent, critical and brave. Especially brave. Let the truth be your first priority, as you are documentary filmmakers. Don't forget: what you show today will be one day a part of the history of these times and of this people. That is why you have to tell the truth. With your creative imagination, that you have proved, bring us closer to your narration and let it leave its permanent trace in us.

Believe me, just like I believe in you, and the success and the recognitions will not fail to come. Be worthy followers of the famous predecessors. Regain the glory of our documentary and short film. You don't have to go to Europe anymore to prove yourselves. We have got an international

festival, here at home, on which you have to show yourselves. I wish you a lot of luck and success. I wish you to live up to my age and to experience this happy moment that I have experienced tonight.
