VERA VLAJIĆ, Art Director and selector of the International Programme

It used to be a long-time practice to open this Festival with a selection from the competition programme, and it was usually a selection of better films, in the selector ' s opinion. It was always considered that those were also the Festival favourites. I have decided to break that tradition this year: the Festival, which this year is international for the second time, is to be opened by the film – VISIONS OF EUROPE .

It consists of the films made by the well-known authors from 25 countries, members of the European Union. The most eminent names from the fields of documentary, animation and feature films have spoken about their joint state, some of them ironically, bitingly, and some others with bitterness and harshness, some through jokes and jests, but all of them with plenty of spirit and creative inventiveness.

What is that Europe, so much longed for, the Europe of our dreams, like? In the moment when we have been approved the Feasibility Study this film will cheer up some people, distress some others, but it will make all those who see it think.
