Georges Bolon, Selector of the Festival in Clermont Ferrand

JUST THROUGH THE FIGHT TO THE RESULTS

At the traditional gathering “BREAD AND FAT FOR VLADA BUNJAC”, the representative of the Festival in Clermont Ferrand, we addressed Mr. Georges Bolon, with the kind assistance of Mrs. Olja Iva from the French Cultural Centre. We asked him if he knew what it was all about.

- I arrived at the very end of Mr. Paramentic's introductory word. I understand that it is a traditional and symbolic gathering, characteristic for your country, dedicated to your colleague Vladimir Bunjac. I see myself in that story in as much as we all have our roots in the village. When you visit someone in a French village, the host offers you first, if you didn't know, exactly “bread and fat”. However, there is, it seems to me, some symbolic meaning in everything for the future. But, it is also the “food of the poor”, and such is the situation in the cinematography …

I am in Belgrade for the second time. I have just arrived and I am going to pay special attention to the Serbian production, but I can say that a lot of things have changed for better here; starting from the street where the people are much happier and more cheerful, and for the Festival, the opening itself was different from the one I remembered when I was here at the 50th jubilee Festival. In any case, you have come closer to something that is seen in Europe .

At the festival in Clermont Ferrand there have already been several films from Serbia and Montenegro ; I remember a film made by Andrej Acin (MARGINE), for example. I hope to see, at this festival, interesting films from your production that I will propose to the selection commission of my Festival. I am sure that the situation in your cinematography is not positive (I have in mind the production of the documentary and short films), but it is very similar to the one in the Eastern Europe . I often travel from one festival to another and I presume that your neighbours are in a similar position. Believe me, nowhere and not just in the Eastern Europe the conditions are not great, especially for the documentary film. People have to fight to achieve some results. You should know that you are not isolated, that you are not the only ones; you have a lot of comrades in the countries around you.
